  Dr. Enoch E. Holloway


Personal

Dr. Enoch E. Holloway, the third son of the late Edward and Mattie Mae Holloway, is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. He was married to the late Hilda S. Holloway and they are blessed with three children: Sharon (Les), Enoch Jr. (Valeria), and Jenelle (Jason); five grandchildren: Jaron, Shayla, Enoch III (Trey), Jacob and Nicholas.

Education

Dr. Holloway was educated in the public schools of North Carolina. He graduated from St. Augustine's College in 1970 with a BA degree in Business Administration. He received in 1983 from Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C. Masters of Divinity degree, and in 1998 received the Doctor of Ministry degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.

Professional

Dr. Holloway retired in July of 1998 from the State of North Carolina Governor's Office of State Budget and Management after a distinguished career of 26 years.

He rose to the position of Senior Budget Analyst. While in the office, he served as an instructor for the State Government Executives Institute at the Institute of Government at UNC Chapel Hill.

He accepted his call into the Gospel Ministry and preached his initial sermon in May of 1980. He was called to the pastorate of Friendship Chapel Baptist Church in Wake Forest, North Carolina in September 1982 and served as a bi-vocational pastor until July 1998. He presently serves the Gospel Ministry full time and has served as pastor of Friendship Chapel for 25 years.

Awards and Accomplishments

Dr. Holloway has led Friendship Chapel Baptist Church to be a lighthouse in the community. During his years of service to Friendship Chapel, he has presented many into the ministry; and serves as field supervisor to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary masters and doctorate candidates.

In 1993 recognizing the need to promote better community relations, Dr. Holloway co-chaired establishing the Wake Forest Human Relations Council and The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee.

He continues to serve the community through various organizations:

Triangle AIDS Partnership of North Carolina, Research Triangle Aids Interfaith Network, Human Relations Council of Wake Forest, NAACP, Unity and Harmony 2000, Wake Baptist Association, Board member of and instructor of the JOBS Partnership of North Carolina.

He worked diligently to tear down walls of racism in the community and in 1999 was awarded the Light of Hope award by the Wake County Board of Education.

He was awarded the Bill Hogarth award for outstanding service by the Alliance of Aids Services of the Research Triangle in 1991.

He received the Outstanding Service Award presented by the Tri-county areas of Johnston, Cumberland, and Lee counties for services to the AIDS community in 2002.

He serves as a facilitator for the Study Circles program, sponsored by the YWCA in an effort to promote racial diversity in the community.

He has preached extensively throughout the United States. He has also traveled to Cameroon, in West Africa, and Zimbabwe to preach and provide missionary support in those countries.
