First Lady Marion Holloway |
Marion Holloway was born in Blanch, North Carolina, a rural community in Caswell County. She spent her childhood on the farm belonging to her family since the Reconstruction period. Her parents were the late Andrew and Matilda Stephens Taylor, and she has two brothers and two sisters. After completing high school she attended North Carolina Central University in Durham where she received a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's of Library Science.
Marion joined High Rock Baptist Church at a young age. While a member of High Rock she was a Sunday school teacher, usher and member of the Junior Choir. Even though she was a church member as a child, it was while she was a college freshman that she really accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior.
For over 35 years Marion has worked as a school librarian and currently is employed at East Millbrook Magnet Middle School in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and mentor. As a volunteer for the International Baccalaureate Organization, she is a workshop leader and facilitates training sessions for librarians from IB schools in North America. During her long career as an educator she was selected as Teacher of the year of her school and received recognition for outstanding collaborative and innovative teaching.
First Lady Marion is the wife of Dr. Enoch E. Holloway, Pastor of Friendship Chapel Baptist Church. They have four children, Sharon (Les), Enoch Jr (Valerie), Jenelle (Jason) and Yorel (Drew); as well as six grandchildren: Jaron, Shayla, Enoch III (Trey), Jacob, Camden and Nicholas.
She leads the women's ministry and gladly accepts her calling to support her husband, especially by helping to communicate his vision. Her passion for encouraging youth to grow academically, emotionally and spiritually is shared by her husband. They believe God is calling them to focus their ministry on developing a support system for the youth to help them be successful academically and disciples for Christ in the community.
One of her favorite scriptures is: In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Proverbs 3:6).
